Course Overview

This course is designed for personnel who are required to perform rope rescue to injured personnel. Course tasks include:
  • Compliance Requirements for equipment, access and fall arrest systems
  • Technical Theory
  • Life Rescue Knots & Hitches
  • Anchor Points / Anchor Systems
  • Suspension Trauma
  • Rappelling & Line Ascension Skills
  • 7 steps to rescue (RECEO and PACT)
  • Lowering & Raising Systems
  • Stretcher Escorting & Patient handling
  • ‘Pick Off Rescues’
  • Personnel Roles & Responsibilities
  • Belay Systems & Climbing Skills

Entry Requirements

  • Participants must provide a Statement of Attainment / USI Transcript for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid.
  • Payment prior to course commencement – see terms and conditions in the student handbook.
  • The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
  • As a minimum, Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills (or equivalent)
  • What to wear: Long trousers, long sleeve shirt, enclosed footwear (as a minimum)
  • Good level of physical fitness

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by Australian Institute of Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO #40772) trading as Host Safety and Training.
