TLILIC0003 – Licence To Operate A Forklift Truck

This course specifies the skills and knowledge to operate a forklift truck safely. This course requires a person operating a forklift truck to:

Plan the work
Conduct routine checks
Shift loads in a safe manner
Safely shut down and secure equipment after completing operations

Do I need a forklift licence?

The short answer – yes. It is necessary to hold a licence to operate a forklift. However, if you are “in training” you are permitted to operate a forklift without a licence until such time as you are competent enough to be assessed. You must be within sight and sound of a licenced operator at all times.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal pre requisites for this course
Must be eighteen (18) years of age (Workplace Health and Safety requirement)
Payment prior to course commencement – see terms and conditions in the student handbook.
Provide 100 points of identification
The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
As a minimum, Year 10 level of numeracy, literacy and communication skills (or equivalent)
What to wear: long trousers, long sleeve shirt, enclosed footwear (as a minimum)

Course Delivery & Assesment

This course is delivered over three (3) days for the operator with no experience.
Training and assessment is delivered face to face at any of our facilities or onsite.

Certifications

Participants who are deemed competent will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by Australian Institute of Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO #40772) trading as Host Safety and Training.
Applicants need to complete the online application for a new Queensland HRW Licence on the Worksafe QLD website. This must be done within 60 days of successfully completing the practical assessment. Please visit https://www.worksafe.qld.gov.au/licensing-and-registrations/table-of-fees for pricing details. Where are courses held?

Based on the Sunshine Coast, we have offices in Gladstone, Mackay, Victoria and Northern Territory and have serviced clients across the country.

We also offer on-site training and request.

How long does training take?

The length of training will depend on the course itself. Some course require a few hours where others take between one and five business days to complete.

Do certifications and licences expire?

Some certifications do not have an expiry date, while others will expire in one – five years. However, this is dependent on the course.
