Course Overview

This course specifies the skills and knowledge required to safely operate a slewing mobile crane with a Maximum Rated Capacity (MRC) up to 60 tonnes. This course will give participants the skills to:
  • Plan for the operation of a slewing mobile crane (up to 60 tonnes capacity)
  • Conduct routine pre and post operational crane checks
  • Correctly set up the crane
  • Conduct test lifts
  • Transfer loads
  • Use controls, outriggers and safety equipment
  • Move loads safely
  • Understand load charts
  • Communicate effectively with the dogman / rigger

Entry Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Have a current white card
  • Must hold a current National High Risk Work Licence (HRWL) to perform dogging
  • Payment prior to course commencement see terms and conditions in the student handbook.
  • Valid photo ID
  • Have a good understanding of the English language
  • Wear long trousers, long sleeve shirt and enclosed footwear

  • Please note that all card payments may attract a 2.2% transaction fee of the total amount paid.
  • Please refer to the student handbook for any payments over $1500.
  • This course is delivered over five (5) days.
  • Training and assessment are delivered face to face at any of our facilities or onsite.
  • Assessment will include a theory and practical assessment.

  • Participants who are deemed competent will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment issued by Australian Institute of Resources Training Pty Ltd (RTO #40772) trading as Host Safety and Training.
  • Students will also be provided with an electronic ‘Candidate Assessment Summary’ (CAS) to apply for the High-Risk Licence through Work Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ).
  • Applicants need to complete the online application for a new Queensland HRW Licence on the Worksafe QLD website.  This must be done within 60 days of successfully completing the practical assessment. Please note there is an additional fee charged by WHSQ to apply for the licence.
